A dramatic hill fire ripped through Por Lo Shan in Tuen Mun on Sunday night.
The blaze broke out at around 5pm, threatening a nearby warehouse and electricity towers.
Flames spread quickly due to strong winds.
Fire department teams responded – the blaze was extinguished by 8:14pm.
The red fire danger warning was issued at 6am on Saturday and continues to be in force, according to the Hong Kong Observatory. Hill fires are common during the dry season in Hong Kong when the humidity is low and rainfall is scarce.
The weather is otherwise set to be fine and dry over the Lunar New Year break with temperatures of up to 18 degrees celsius on Monday.
