HKFP Occupy banner one year on

Filmmakers James Leong and Lynn Lee present unseen footage from the evening of October 14, 2014 – arguably one of the most dramatic nights of the Umbrella Movement.

Police moved in to clear hundreds of protesters occupying a road in front of the Chief Executive’s offices. Pepper spray was deployed, arrests were made and, in a dark corner, a lone protester was filmed being beaten. Click here for photos.

Leong and Lee are making a 25-minute documentary about democracy in Hong Kong. The three-part series aired, but hours of dramatic footage from the Occupy protests was left over. See their first installment here and part two here.
