A waste recycling yard in Hung Lung Hang, Ta Ku Ling erupted in flames at around 5am on Friday morning. A thick column of smoke arose from the yard and witnesses reported hearing explosions.

Since there were overhead cables near the scene, firefighters had to wait for the electricity supply to be cut off before attempting to extinguish the blaze at 7:10am.

A fire department spokesperson told Apple Daily that the fire was listed as a No. 2 alarm. Seventeen fire trucks, an ambulance, four water jetpacks and three breathing apparatus were mobilised to fight the blaze.

The fire was put out at 9:03am. No one was injured.
