Thousands took to the streets on Saturday in support of returned bookseller Lam Wing-kee, marching from Causeway Bay Books – the bookstore at the centre of the incident – to China’s Liaison Office in Sai Wan.
“We believe in Lam Wing-kee,” the placard says.
“Give me back One Country, Two Systems,” another read.
“If we stay silent, Hong Kong will not have a voice anymore,” lawmaker “Long Hair” Leung Kwok-hung’s sign says.
“Freedom comes first for Hongkongers.”
“Down with kidnapping,” says one sign bearing Chinese President Xi Jinping’s face.
“Against political persecution, let Hong Kong people have justice,” ADPL Chairwoman Rosanda Mok Ka-han’s sign reads.
